“Œ‹ž | Tokyo |
Most of Tokyo is comprised of impossibly narrow alleys twisting around in nothing resembling a grid. For a foreigner, this can either be intimidating or enticing. Fortunately, Tokyo feels like the safest city of it's size in the world, so you can feel fairly free to wander. Long-time Tokyo resident Donald Richie has written an excellent book on Tokyo; containing many pearls of wisdom, such as: "Shinjuku at night is New Year's eve anywhere else." Tokyo is cris-crossed by a sprawling network of subway and rail stations.
Sponsored by Nokia, TokyoQ takes a broad look at culture and goings-on around Tokyo. Just In Tokyo (2002) In 2002 I put together a guidebook to this city Just In Tokyo - now available as a free PDF on the web.
